Marigold [Calendula] is referred to as the "flower of the dead" to honor our ancestors on Dia De Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. The flowers are used to decorate altars, cemeteries and are placed on the graves of loved ones. It is said the bright orange and yellow petals guide returning souls home safely.
